The Goal Of Sideshow WorldTM
Sideshow WorldTM is a website dedicated to preserving the past while promoting the future of sideshow for fans and performers alike.
Our Goal is to offer informative, enjoyable and accurate information to the public relating to all aspects of sideshow. To accomplish this our volunteer staff continually researches sideshows, carnivals and circuses through reading materials, videos, the internet and networking with various figures in the sideshow community.
The Driving Force behind Sideshow WorldTM is our love of sideshow. Each staff member volunteers their time to make this website work. That dedication and devotion has made Sideshow WorldTM what it is today.
Preserving the Past is something we take very seriously at Sideshow WorldTM because so many things have changed and disappeared over the years. In many cases live human oddities have been replaced by replicas inside display cases. Instead of a talker up on the bally trying to turn the tip it's a tape recorded message heard over a PA system. The few remaining sideshows have been slowly relegated to the back of the lot or removed all together in many carnivals to make way for rides and other, more modern attractions.
Sideshow WorldTM is attempting to preserve what is left of the remaining traveling sideshows and, unfortunately in most cases the sideshows of days gone by. We attempt to accomplish this by acquiring and archiving stories and interviews from those in the sideshow industry who volunteer their time to "keep the candle burning" by contributing their own memories such as Ward Hall, Judy Tomaini Rock, Slim Price and our many various authors.
Promoting the Future of sideshow is something we take very seriously as well. Although the face of sideshow has changed, many of it's original aspects have remained the same and become a mainstream source of entertainment. You can still see sword swallowers, human blockheads, fire breathers and more live on stage!! The difference is the location and presentation. Instead of seeing a sideshow at a circus or carnival many of the performers of today are seen in night clubs, at rock concerts or get-togethers like the Annual Sideshow Gathering in Pennsylvania.
Enjoying the Present By interviewing today's performers, offering a place where they can post their personal bio's, showcasing their schedules and having a vast amount of links we are attempting to show the world that sideshow is still alive and kicking.
And much much more..............................
Whether it's the sideshows of yesteryear or the modern mainstream style of performance Sideshow WorldTM is here to offer you as much information as possible.
Your Feedback is very important to us. If you have something you would like to say drop us a line at contact us here
