Well at opening of
the Fair we had the worst weather! The Winds started at 30
to 40 miles an hour. The Fair opened at 5 p.m. At 5 the
winds got worst and than worse...80 mile an hour and gusts
to 90 miles an hour...The banners on the bannerline were
like sails...I couldn't let anyone in the tent, to
dangerous.. I wanted to drop the tent, however if we did
that the bannerline would have blown down...So we took down
the banners with 80 mile an hour winds. Not to easy to do
with that kind of winds...Than we had to get all the
attractions out of the Show...Than had to take down the
sidewall....Than as we were dropping the
center poles, the wind gusts hit the hardest...As we dropped
the third center pole the tent ripped in half....Than the 25
foot centers started dancing and hitting the ground real
hard...Very dangerous We were very lucky to get everything
out of the tent just in time.....If the 90 mile an hour
winds hit when everything was in the tent, everything would
have been destroyed!
This has happen to
our show twice before in all the years I have owned my own
show...I tend to forget about these bad times, and focus on
the good times...However when this happens again, you
remember those bad times...When things our good they are
real good...When things our bad they are real bad...This was
a real bad time...Us sideshow guys put up the largest kites
in the sky....Wind loves kites...And when it start to blown
at 80 miles an hour and doesn't stop all night you have
major problems...Lucky the tent that was ripped in half,
ripped down a lace line... so it can be repaired pretty
easy...Now we have to clean up the mess and erect another
tent in its place...We are suppose to have 30 to 40 mile an
hour winds today....This will be a all day
Job...However we
will do it and make opening today...
