On September 27 (Thu), 2007 (9:30pm - 11:30pm.), a major charity fund-raising event for Washington Humane Society took place at The Palace of Wonders in Washington DC. This is one of many entertaining social events POW has been offering for public as a part of its community outreach programs.

The Palace of Wonders is one of the new generation of commercial entertainment companies offering the museum of traditional sideshow art & cabinet of curiosity, sideshow stage entertainment, human curiosities shows, burlesque shows, and full liquor bar for it’s patrons. It is truly a one of a kind world class establishment under the creative leadership of the famed publisher of the “Shocked and Amazed” magazine, James Taylor. His staffs include Tyler Fire (sword swallower, fire eater, human block head, master bally) and his wife Thrill Kill Jill - the designer of POW.

Currently, POW is the only commercial company with sideshow attractions, full-liquor bars, and live human entertainments in metro Washington DC. Today, there are no such commercial companies like this exist anywhere in New York City, sadly. (The something remotely close is Ripley’s Believe it Not” museum in Manhattan but they do not have full liquor bars or regular stage shows.) About 100 years ago, Coney Island area of New York City (where I, Takeshi Yamada, now live) was the center of this multi-entertainment culture but it was completely lost by the mid 20th century.

During the event at POW on September 27, 2007, I photographed over 350 digital pictures. Article was also produced to add to those selected pictures. (The performers featured here are professionally trained and well experienced people, so, please do not try any acts shown here at home.)

Professor Sprocket is the rock’n roll stage master, sideshow talker and MC for tonight’s event.

Straight jacket escape by lovely and dynamic Mab Just Mab.

Gorgeous fire dancing by Malibu (Christie Otvos)

A brief intermission. Say hi to the kitty (POW manager Priscilla Jerez) at the POW main floor’s full liquor bar.
