The following photograph rich article features scenes that Takeshi Yamada sees when he goes to shop for groceries in Coney Island area of Brooklyn, New York. All the photographs featured here were taken by Yamada unless noted. For years numerous films, TV news segments, DVD, and Youtube clips produced in American and Canada have featured the eccentric life of Yamada in Coney Island. This manuscript was produced by Dr. Eriko N. Bond, noted art critic and book author in New York City, as told by Yamada.

The Brooklyn Landmark the Parachute Jump Tower.  (The actual Parachute Jump Tower is only 15 minutes walking distance from Yamada’s house.) Mural 5 of 8. (September 9, 2007)

There are no artworks of Neptune on Neptune Avenue in Coney Island. There are also not many artworks of mermaids on Neptune Avenue in Coney Island (sadly). This large swimming mermaid wears a bikini top for modesty. Mural 6 of 8. (September 9, 2007)

“Coney Island”.  Mural 7 of 8. (September 9, 2007)

An inside view of the shop shown above. Mural 8 of 8. The ‘funny-faced guy’ is the symbol for the old Steeplechase Amusement Park. This mural also features images of the Cyclone roller coaster, the Wonder Wheel, thrill rides, and the Astroland Tower.  (September 5, 2007) Incidentally, a giant liquor mart store was opened last year adjacent to this place.

An old Steeplechase Park Ticket with punches for each ride on the attraction. The Joker-like face was the original logo for Geo. C. Tilyou's  Steeplechase Park: " Steeplechase - The  Funny Place."

Street signs point to the various area attractions ahead; New York Aquarium, Amusement Parks, and Keyspan Park (the baseball stadium for the minor league Brooklyn Cyclone). They are all within walking distance. Corner of Neptune Avenue and Cropsey Avenue. Two big gas stations are located at this corner. (September 5, 2007)
