Artwork
My work explores
social behavior and the natural world through human
and animal imagery.
Each piece reflects the
psychological landscape that animates the physical
body.
By their postures and expressions, these
creatures are meant to evoke a sense of longing,
vulnerability, and resilience.
Much of my
inspiration is rooted in the past.
Morality tales
and narrative art forms such as Italian majolica and
medieval stained glass provide glimpses of
humanity's unchanging nature.
I find the
obsolete imagery of more recent history just as
compelling.
Growing up, I was
surrounded by antique dolls, handmade wooden toys,
and other aging curiosities.
Their
movements and intricacies are now employed in my own
work.
I hope my figures convey the same sense of
joy and mystery those old, well-used objects held
for me.
