PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

Bizarre Creature To Be Released in Northeast D.C.

Local sideshow troupe, Cheeky Monkey Sideshow, will present a shocking, live oddity at the

Palace of Wonders this month.

Washington, DC April 4, 2008  Discovered in the hills of West Virginia, confined to a cage its entire life, rescued by the Cheeky Monkey Sideshow, "Calibano", a strange and indescribable creature, will be unveiled on Friday, April 18th at the Palace of Wonders, on H Street, NE, in Washington, D.C. The Palace of Wonders is the only vaudeville stage, museum of oddities and full bar in the world.

Cheeky Monkey Sideshow founder and Artistic Director, Stephon Walker, says, "Calibano is really quite astounding. Once people see him, they won't be able to stop talking about it. He was in pretty poor shape when we got him, but he's been under a doctor's care, and has adjusted really well to life outside a cage." Walker says the creature looks like it was put together piecemeal, with a kangaroo-like body, a chicken's wing, and teeth like a jackal.

"We'll pay $1000 if Calibano is not 100% real and alive," pledges Walker.

Cheeky Monkey Sideshow is Washington, DC's premier theatrical sideshow, composed of performers whose combined experience exceeds 85 years. Born of a desire for something new in sideshow--while still preserving the rich history of its past--Cheeky Monkey Sideshow is a breathtaking yet beautiful cavalcade of the bizarre, the shocking, the grotesque, and the strange. A unique form of entertainment that few will ever experience, but none will ever forget.

WJLA's Arch Campbell says of Cheeky Monkey Sideshow, "I'm a big fan!"

Cheeky Monkey's roster includes a World Record-holding sword swallower, a fire dancer, a contortionist, a magician, a man who hammers a spike into his face, glass walkers, an escape artist, and a young woman who can cinch her waist down to only a few inches. Calibano is the newest, and most unusual, addition to the troupe.

Cheeky Monkey Sideshow will perform Friday, April 18, at the Palace of Wonders 1210 H. St., NE, Washington, DC. Show starts at 10 P.M. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. More information is available at www.palaceofwonders.com.
