The first Buster Brown reputably, was Major George W. Campbell, who became the diminutive icon at the age of 51.

 

George was just one of three 'Buster Brown's that traveled the country selling shoes. 

Major Campbell also represented the Dolly Dimple Flour Company, wearing a suit made of Dolly Dimple flour sacks.  

His daughter, Princess Estella (Also a midget), appeared with him in the G W Campbell Circus Sideshow, which he owned.
