Thanksgiving 1975

I'll never forget the superb cheeseburger and RC Cola I had for Thanksgiving dinner in 1975. It was in some shabby desert Bun-and-Run diner. We were in the middle of a relatively long haul, from San Dimas to Phoenix so there was no show on Thursday /Thanksgiving.

We had THREE DAYS!!! in Phoenix which meant only one putting up of the tent and only one tear down during those three days.

Don't know if anyone remembers this or knows this but Phoenix, Arizona had (has?) a 'Circus Clown Club' with probably 50 or more members. They all had much better clown costumes and make-up than I did. But I had one thing they didn't have...a clown job! I remember feeling like a big league ball player interacting with softball players from a beer league.

After Friday's show, the Phoenix Circus Clown Club delivered us a huge Thanksgiving feast with all the traditional trimmings, under canvas. More food than even the seven of us on the tent crew could eat. No food ever tasted so good or was so appreciated.

I even met and spent a very brief but intense few hours with a clown-groupie..but that story is for another time.

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
