'Bicycle Drome'

This rickety contraption in 1913 is quite interesting. In this 'Bicycle Drome', the fearless rider in this photo who we know only as "Jinks", would pedal furiously until he got enough inertia to stay against the interior of the slatted wall then the whole thing would be mechanically winched off of the ground to reveal a floorless barrel.

This was quite a dangerous act considering that any number of mechanical misfortunes on these early model bicycles, such as a blown tire or a slipped chain, could spell serious injury or even death for these riders.
