RELIGIOUS
SIDESHOW
1966 New Delhi India Mela Festival Sideshow
As at carnivals in
the Western World, a sideshow is always found among the
merchandise stalls and "rides" set up near the Hindu temple at
mela's (festival) in India. The sideshow attractions
include a cobra charmer, a fortune teller, a palm reader, a
phrenologist, sometimes even a two-or-three-actor drama.
The sideshow seen here, at a recent religious festival in New
Delhi, even has an "electric girl" whose act is a demonstration
of immunity to electric show.
