The Ossified Lady

Clara "Dolly" Scott

Clara "Dolly" Scott was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1919 and became involved with the sideshow when she was 23. She was discovered, in fact, at a local fair, selling raffle tickets for the Kiwanis. Her tiny, three-foot-high body was completely immobilized due to ankylosis of her joints. She was known as "The Ossified Lady" or "The Half Lady, Half Baby" Only her right hand was functional and  used  only a few of her fingers, which she used to control her motorized wheelchair.

When addressing the sideshow crowd, she claimed that her mother had been ill with the flu while pregnant, and that Dolly had absorbed excess calcium from her mother's body in order to stay alive.

Dolly was married three times and outlived all three of her husbands. One was Pappy Reagan, a circus juggler. Another was Percy Pape, the 71-pound living skeleton.

Dolly was a member of Ward Hall's freak show from 1972 up until her death on April 28, 1991.

She owned a home in Gibsonton, Florida and passed away on April 28, 1992, aged 73.
