O'Day' Exhibit 'Set for Today
The real body of Marie O'Day, murdered "night club"
entertainer whose body reportedly was bound beneath the
pavilion on the shores of the Great Salt Lake 12 years
after she had disappeared, and still in a perfect state of
mummified preservation, will be exhibited today at Big
Springs Shopping Center. The general public is invited to
view the unusual exhibit. The (entertainer's body in its
preserved state was attributed to the 26 per cent of salt
chemical content present in the water of the Great Salt
Lake.
Miss O'Day's story is said never to have been duplicated.
According to the exhibitor, a well preserved body resembles
leather and the red hair of the corpse stands out even after
mummification.
Viewer were invited to inspect the body to convince
themselves that the girl was once alive, that here is a real
human body.
The exhibitor said that Marie O'Day's "lover" a common-law
husband was captured and convicted for the brutal crime.
She reportedly was stabbed in the back, her throat cut
before she was thrown in the lake where the body was washed
ashore and was covered with salt, silt and sand for 12
years. The body has been viewed by many thousands in 38
states and Canada.
The body can be viewed in a special van which will be parked
in the shopping center.
Admission will be 50 cents.

A VERY POOR ENDING FOR
SUCH A GLORIOUS CAREER IN OUTDOOR SHOW BIZ.
Morgan County Newsweek, Wednesday, September 4, 1974
Rain and mud failed to present en ough,
of an obstacle to dampen the spirits of the largest Monday
night crowd at Morgan County Fair in recent years. The
Midway is much larger and has many new attractions - in fact
the size off the Midway is responsible for creating a
parking problem.
The gate receipts Monday night were considerably higher than
last year despite the rain.
The horse show - restricted to Morgan County exhibitors -
was a success and riders performed before at least
300 spectators.
The new exhibition building was filled with both exhibitions
and spectators.
Long after the horse show and the rain which forced the fans
from the stands, many people were wading the mud on the
midway enjoying the rides and concessions.
Included in attractions on the
midway is a mummified body of a
woman who was murdered and
thrown in the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The body because of
the salt and sand resembles leather and the red hair of the
corpse stands out even after mummification.
