HOLLYWOOD'S GOT THE CARNIVAL SPIRIT

In a big circus tent on Hollywood's Cahunga Boulevard, spectators, mostly service men and their girl friends, sit on the edge of their chairs and marvel at the feats of magic.  It's actor Orson Welles, Mercury Wonder Show and Welles himself is the chief performer.  The soldiers and sailors enjoy it and Orson's having the time of his life.  He has about 20 helpers, mainly pretty girls in abbreviated costumes, actress Rita Hayworth, who appears briefly, and Orson's friend, actor Joseph Cotten.  The show, of course, is free to the men in uniform.  Here, against an old fashioned carnival backdrop, Cotten assisted by a bevy of beauties, goes through one of the acts.  The girls are left to right: Mary Rowland, Mary Battle, Linda Brent and Eleanor Counts.
